Data backup solutions provider STORServer Inc. has announced the availability of its latest STORServer Console.
According to the developer, STORServer Console version 2.0 (SSC)†”simplifies management of the STORServer Backup Appliance and IBM Tivoli Storage Manager servers,” enabling SMBs to manage end-to-end backup appliance functionality in less than 30 minutes a day.
STORServer, headquartered in Colorado Springs, Colo., provides a full suite of appliances, software, and services for backup, archive, and disaster recovery needs. The products sell through a national network of partners.
By combining SSC and IBM Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM), STORserver says the Console software is designed to provide a disaster-tolerant environment for data while simplifying administration of the data protection solution.
“The latest version of SSC gives current TSM users and potential users the relief they need to more easily operate their TSM environments and manage the TSM enterprise from an intuitive interface,” says STORServer president Bill Smoldt.
The solution is meant provide SMBs with on-demand execution of routine TSM administrative tasks for storage pool operations. For example, it enables users to schedule and run TSM scripts and responds to custom commands with data-rich, actionable reports. It also enables easy identification of administrative and client schedules via a color-coded system.
“With SSC, users can manage data retention policies, maximize the value of their backup activities and meet reporting requirements, all while cutting down management time,” states a STORServer press release submitted to Channel Pro-SMB.
SSC’s user interface is designed to enable SMBs to schedule administrative activities and reports, handle issues, and automate daily tasks. SSC automates the implementing, monitoring and repairing of TSM with daily and routine tasks in one interface. Other benefits include the ability to operate TSM servers from one screen, control and secure interfaces for backup administrators, and work with all types of TSM licenses (base or extended) and licensing options (cores or capacity).
SSC can now be purchased as a standalone product for TSM users or for use in conjunction with the STORServer Backup Appliance. The new version is also offered as an upgrade for existing users. Users can now download a free 45-day SSC demo license on STORServer’s website.
