Application Whitelisting Product Available for Mac and Linux Users Through Channel

According to CoreTrace, it is the first enterprise-ready product of its kind available for Mac and Linux OS.

CoreTrace, a cross-platform application whitelisting provider, is offering an enterprise-ready application whitelisting product for Mac and Linux endpoints. The company’s Bouncer 6 provides application whitelisting’s three key benefits — advanced threat prevention, configuration control, and application intelligence — on Windows, Mac, and Linux.

Adoption of Mac and Linux platforms in the enterprise are increasing, as is the nature and severity of malware attacks on these platforms. In the past, when attacks were designed for maximum damage and exposure, platforms like the Mac OS were considered safer simply because there were fewer systems to exploit. Attackers are now targeting specific information and/or users, regardless of the system they are on, which is driving the need to secure the devices that were previously believed to be safe.

CoreTrace’s new Bouncer 6 product will cover all major versions of Windows, Macs running Leopard and Snow Leopard, and Linux distributions from companies such as Red Hat, Suse, and Ubuntu.

Bouncer 6 Mac and Linux clients will be generally available in March 2011. Pricing starts at $35 per desktop and is also available for servers.
