Open-Source ERP Software Available as On-Demand Offering

According to the company, OpenERP v6 eases implementation with customization options. The product is available to try through a free SaaS trial.

OpenERP, an open source ERP and business applications vendor, is now offering OpenERP v6, a software line upgrade that eases implementation and use of business applications (CRM, Purchase Management, Manufacturing, Warehouse Management, Project Management, Accounting, Human Resources…). †OpenERP also offering v6 as an on-demand offering that reduces the cost and complexity of an ERP deployment.

The key benefits of OpenERP v6 include:

  • Deploying an ERP system at a customized pace: Customers can start with one application and add new applications when they feel it’s right for them, allowing for a custom integration based on the customer’s needs.
  • Making ERP easy for the user: OpenERP v6 reduces user complexity, including a new user interface. Each OpenERP application has been designed to allow a user to perform a complete process while remaining in a single application.
  • On-site or on-demand: †Customers have the freedom to use OpenERP through the on-site version or through the SaaS platform. OpenERP also provides its SaaS customers the freedom to switch at anytime from SaaS to an onsite version of the software.

According to OpenERP, the newest version of the OpenERP suite, which is written in Python, is the result of suggestions and improvement from customers and the developer community over the past 18 months. More than a hundred features have been added, including:

  • Extended multi-company functionality
  • Marketing campaign management
  • Simplified accounting interface
  • Tracking of tickets for support and after-sales services
  • Push and pulled logistics flows
  • Talent acquisition
  • Manufacturing scrap management
