SolarWinds MSP Unveils Unified Product Portfolio, Previews Forthcoming Changes

The announcement comes as the managed services software vendor officially retires its N-able and LOGICnow brands.

SolarWinds MSP, of Durham, N.C., has introduced a unified product portfolio combining assets from its SolarWinds N-able and LOGICnow units.

The news arrives as the company officially phases out both the N-able and LOGICnow brands, effective immediately. Austin, Texas-based parent company SolarWinds Worldwide LLC turned those two companies into a single entity named SolarWinds MSP in June following its acquisition of LOGICnow.

The formally merged SolarWinds MSP product family now includes two RMM platforms, an on-premises solution named MSP N-central that’s based on SolarWinds N-able’s N-central product and a software-as-a-service offering named MSP Remote Monitoring & Management (RMM) based on LOGICnow’s MAX RM product.

Other former LOGICnow products bear new names as of today as well. MAX Backup & Disaster Recovery, for example, has been re-dubbed MSP Backup & Recovery, while MAX Risk Intelligence, the vulnerability scanning and risk assessment solution LOGICnow introduced in February, has become MSP Risk Intelligence.

SolarWinds MSP plans to roll out a new edition of MSP N-central at an unspecified point later this year. It will also integrate that product more closely with MSP Backup & Recovery, integrate N-central’s MSP Connect desktop remote control tool with MSP RMM, and tighten the connections between MSP RMM and MSP Risk Intelligence.

In addition, new agentless monitoring functionality due later this year will equip MSP N-central and MSP RMM users to manage routers, printers, and firewalls in the cloud along with workstations.

SolarWinds MSP executives will make additional product and roadmap announcements at MAX 2016, the partner event it will host in Edinburgh, Scotland, next month. Those will include further unification of MSP N-central and MSP RMM, according to information sent by the company to ChannelPro in response to emailed questions.

“The progress the SolarWinds MSP team has achieved in such a short period of time is monumental, and we have received outstanding feedback from our partners and growing interest from MSPs looking to scale their services and success,” said general manager John Pagliuca in a separate press statement.

According to SolarWinds MSP, that progress includes uniting the SolarWinds N-able and LOGICnow operations, marketing, product management, R&D, and support teams; training field and inside sales personnel on the newly unified product portfolio; and giving MSP N-central users access to MSP Risk Intelligence and MSP Backup & Recovery.

The company says it has been adding 300 new partners a month amid all those transitions as well.

Pagliuca assumed his current role atop SolarWinds MSP two weeks ago following the departure of managing director Alistair Forbes. His leadership team now includes senior vice president of sales and customer operations JP Jauvin, vice president of marketing Stacy West, and vice president of sales and customer retention Mike Cullen.

The changes at SolarWinds MSP have apparently left at least some MSPs confused about the vendor’s future plans, however, based on a LinkedIn post published last week by director of partner community Dave Sobel.

“It’s clear to me that we as an organization have done a less than stellar job of communicating lately,” wrote Sobel in what he emphasized was a personal rather than official communication. In apparent response to questions he has received from partners, Sobel addressed “a buzz in the community” about possible forthcoming changes to the former LOGICnow product line’s pricing.

“I can’t promise that we will never, ever, forever, under no circumstances change pricing,” Sobel said. “However, it doesn’t make any sense for us to change the pricing. Right now, our priorities are bringing the technologies together and keeping our relationships with all of you. Changing pricing is a variable that just doesn’t make sense. It’s not something we’re thinking about right now.”

SolarWinds MSP confirmed in its email to ChannelPro that “there are no price changes to report.”
