Strategic alliances with software developers N-Able and Level Platforms enable MSPs to include uninterruptible power supplies in their managed systems.

Partnerships were announced by Eaton Corp. this week with software developers Level Platforms and N-Able Technologies. The companies will provide remote monitoring and management of its uninterruptible power systems (UPSs).

“Managed services are becoming more integral to a reseller’s business,” explains Ramesh Menon, director of global channel marketing for Eaton. “Our work with [Level Platforms and N-Able] gives resellers the added benefit of offering a managed service platform to their customers that include monitoring of Eaton’s line of UPSs.”

The new Level Platforms features include three comprehensive policy modules that monitor the Eaton UPS units for numerous functions, including temperature and humidity levels, battery charging and test faults, battery usage status, voltage issues, and proactive alerts for advanced battery replacements.

“UPS monitoring and management are important services for MSPs as any failure here could have negative results,” says Level Platforms CEO Peter Sandiford. “Our collaboration with Eaton will allow MSPs to add a new high-value offering to their customers.”

N-Able’s partners, on the other hand, are now able to monitor and manage such key metrics as remaining battery runtime, battery charge level, battery overload notifications, battery replacement dates, and input line errors as well as ambient temperature and humidity levels.

“Having the capability to easily monitor and manage the power and cooling solutions within a client’s network remotely is a tremendous value for our MSP partners,” says Chris Reid, product analyst with N-able Technologies. “Power and cooling represent lifelines for IT networks, and giving N-central users the insight into how those components of the network are performing is something we’re very excited to bring to market.”
