CloudOak Ships Rubrik-Powered BDR Appliance

Aimed at SMBs with 20 TB of data or below, CloudOak’s CUBE device utilizes technology from enterprise-grade data management and backup vendor Rubrik.

CloudOak has officially released its business continuity and disaster recovery appliance to market.

Called CUBE and targeted at SMBs with 20 TB and below of data, the new device is powered by software from Rubrik, a BDR vendor that chiefly serves large businesses.

“We are incredibly excited to offer our solution to Managed Service Providers, System Integrators and Value Added Resellers of all sizes,” said Troy Cheeseman, CloudOak’s chief sales officer, in a press statement. “All partners would agree that Rubrik has provided the industry’s best backup, disaster recovery and archive solution in a single, scalable product for the enterprise. Now when combined with the CloudOak certified SMB appliance and with our premier service, expertise and global support, CloudOak can offer a true cloud-centric DRaaS solution to all MSP’s servicing the SMB and SME.”

As ChannelPro reported in January when CloudOak first unveiled its brand and solution, CUBE is the core of a fully integrated backup, disaster recovery, replication, archiving, and analytics solution that combines a locally-installed appliance with storage in leading public clouds, including Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform, and Oracle Cloud. The subscription-priced offering supports both virtualized and physical environments in a scale-out architecture. Rubrik’s Air platform, a software-based appliance, powers CUBE’s data protection functionality.

“Our new BCDR appliance will allow any MSP to offer BaaS and DRaaS across both the public cloud and private cloud, opening up opportunities to easily monetize the hybrid cloud storage market; something that was not completely available to the SMB,” said CloudOak CTO Petrus Human in prepared remarks. “All partners can now have the comfort of knowing that there is a tested and supported Rubrik ‘AIR’ hardware focused and productized appliance ranging from 4TB up to 20TB, priced for their SMB and ROBO opportunities.”

According to CloudOak, CUBE fills a general gap in the BDR market for comprehensive backup, disaster recovery, and archiving solutions, as well as a more specific gap for SMB-appropriate data protection solutions based on technology from Rubrik.
