Websense Extends MS Server 2008 R2 Integration
The security provider’s Data Loss Prevention product can now discover, classify, and secure documents and files stored on Windows servers.
Unified Web, data and, email security solutions provider Websense Inc. has extended the integration of its Websense Data Loss Prevention with Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 File Classification Infrastructure technology. According to Websense, the Data Loss Prevention product can now discover, classify, and secure sensitive documents and files stored on Windows servers.
“The integration helps organizations meet the growing regulatory and security requirements for advanced data classification and application of security controls,” the company states in a press release to EH Publishing.
Many basic DLP technologies rely primarily on keyword dictionaries and regular expressions. According to Websense, the joint solution instead provides more accurate detection.
The combination of the Microsoft FCI and Websense DSS enables automatic identification, classification, and remediation of sensitive data with centrally managed security policies. DLP identifies sensitive data in FCI and reports its location or destination. Meanwhile, the RMS protects the content based on permissions.
“Our customers rely on data for their businesses that requires protection for where data resides and when and where it is used is critical,” says Microsoft director of marketing Eric Jewett. “We have delivered the capabilities and infrastructure to identify and classify the sensitivity of the data with File Classification Infrastructure in Windows Server 2008 R2. The integration of the Websense DSS solution brings a powerful way to expand the coverage and capability with DLP.”
