Intel Says Its SSDs Are Ideal for Government and Education

SPONSORED ARTICLE: The company cites its solid-state drives’ quiet operation and durability, along with special warranty offerings, as reasons for being suitable for public sectors.

Intel’s solid-state drives (SSDs) are a-buzz in the channel these days. As SMBs aim to allocate funds to their IT budgets, SSDs offer additional performance as well as the ability to up production.

For Intel, this represents an opportunity.

“Many companies are looking to invest in new hardware initiatives that they put off when the economy was struggling,” says the company through a corporate communications piece. “Intel SSDs can help customers in all segments reduce downtime, increase employee productivity, and ultimately reduce the total cost of ownership.”

In government sectors, for example, Intel says it believes SSDs will help those agencies that store sensitive data and have “strict requirements around drive disposal.” Agencies can “take advantage of Intel’s special government warranty process for SSDs,” the chipmaker states. In addition, Intel offers a 5% discount for resellers and VARs selling into government.

For education clients, the key requirements tend to be durability, reliability, and mobility. “Laptops equipped with Intel SSDs can give educational institutions the confidence that they will weather the rough treatment that students can sometimes dish out,” the company states.

For wireless computing, an Intel SSD provides quiet operation, improved overall system responsiveness, and decreased power consumption, according to Intel.
