Hewlett Packard Enterprise has introduced a new all-in-one compute, software-defined storage, and intelligent virtualization appliance designed to help mid-sized and remote office branch office (ROBO) businesses deploy virtual machines (VMs) in minutes. The new Hyper Converged 380 (HC 380) aims to empower organizations to transform to a hybrid infrastructure while simplifying IT operations and reducing overall costs.
The new system is built on the company’s ProLiant DL380 server and also includes:
- Intuitive HPE OneViewer User Experience (UX) management software that integrates multiple tools and automates tasks. Firmware and driver updates can be installed in three clicks, states the company, while only five clicks are needed to deploy VMs and 15 minutes to add capacity with customizable, repeated templates for VM provisioning.
- HPE Cloud Optimizer tool, providing intelligent analytics to manage VM sprawl and over-provisioning of VMs.
- HPE StoreVirtual VSA software-defined storage technology, enabling data mobility across systems and sites and with built-in enterprise data services that ensure continuous productivity with proven five 9s availability.
“Hyper-convergence presents a huge opportunity for mid-sized and ROBO enterprises who face the unique challenge of having to stay competitive at enterprise-scale, but with notably less resources,” says Ric Lewis, senior vice president and general manager, Converged Datacenter Infrastructure, HPE. “HPE is the only vendor that can offer them the ability to take advantage of the benefits of hyper-converged environments today and provide them with a clear pathway to a composable infrastructure future when they are ready.”
Available March 31, 2016, the HC 380 offers a two-node hyper-converged appliance that allows customers to grow and scale up to 16 nodes.
