Manufacturer Samsung has added two new Citrix-dedicated zero client monitors: the SyncMaster S-series and the SyncMaster B-series cloud stations. In addition, Samsung has announced that it plans to release a SyncMaster cloud display with an embedded Citrix HDX-capable “System-on-Chip” (SoC) provided by Texas Instruments in Q3 2012.
Citrix-dedicated monitors offer desktop virtualization and enable a user to remove the PC from the desk. As a result, users can work anywhere by accessing their own apps and data through a tablet PC.
Built on a high-performance System-on-Chip platform and optimized for Citrix HDX technology, Samsung expects that its SoC-based SyncMaster cloud display will be HDX-Ready when available. “Our goal is to achieve the No. 1 market position for cloud displays within the next six years,” says Tod Pike, Samsung’s senior vice president, Enterprise Business Division.
For its part, Citrix says the new S-series and B-series SyncMaster devices are “the latest examples of Samsung’s strong commitment to cloud displays and Citrix desktop virtualization.”
“Samsung is a strong alliance partner,” says Aimee Catalano, Citrix’s vice president of Alliance Marketing, “and we are pleased that Samsung has furthered its commitment to the HDX SoC initiative.”
