Four new unmanaged Ethernet switches are available to channel pros and SMBs in five- and eight-port form factors for high-speed networking and intelligent data streaming.

Connectivity solutions manufacturer†D-Link has expanded its line of network switches with the DGS-105 and DGS-108 Gigabit Ethernet models and the DES-105 and DES-108 Fast Ethernet metal switches.

D-Link Broadens Its Line of Network Switches with New Ethernet Models Available in five- and eight-port form factors, these unmanaged switches are designed to provide SMBs with high-speed networking and intelligent data streaming with Quality of Service (QoS) prioritization. The solutions also leverage D-Link’s Green Technology for energy savings.

According to D-Link, metal switches are increasing in popularity. “They are one of the fastest growing categories of unmanaged switches,” the company states in a press release submitted to Channel Pro-SMB.

DGS-105 & †DGS-108
The D-LinkDGS-105 and DGS-108 Gigabit metal switches are meant to enable SMBs to increase bandwidth inherent with Gigabit Ethernet so as to expand and upgrade networks. “The switches deliver ease-of-use installation features with a simple plug-and-play design and built-in cable diagnostics for easy network troubleshooting,” the company states.

In addition, the switches are packaged in a rugged metal enclosure providing extra security. The enclosures can be mounted on a desktop or affixed to walls via built-in mount.

“D-Link understands that small and medium-sized businesses rely on easy-to-use network technology that provide high-end features, reliability, and performance without breaking the bank,” says Mark Prowten, the manufacturer’s director of product marketing.

DGS-105 & DGS-108
The DGS-105 and DGS-108 Gigabit Ethernet metal switches are available in five- and eight-port configurations. They provide data transfer speeds of up to 2,000 Mbps (up to 10 times faster performance than Fast Ethernet switches).†

The switches support IEEE 802.1p QoS, which organizes and prioritizes time-sensitive and important data for efficient delivery for smooth streaming media, VoIP calling, and online gaming.† The switches are also 802.3az Energy Efficient Ethernet Compliant and can detect when a computer is shut down or when there is no Ethernet traffic

PRICING & AVAILABILITY
The DGS-105 carries a MSRP of $55. The DGS-108 goes for $69. The Gigabit Ethernet metal switches (DES-105 and DES-108) are priced at $30 and $45 respectively.

The Ethernet metal switches are now shipping through D-Link’s network of channel partners. In addition, D-Link’s network switch products can be purchased at North America e-tail and retail outlets, including Fry’s, Micro Center, and at the company’s online store, www.dlinkshop.com. †
