Hostway Adds Next-Gen Intel Technology to Hosted Servers
Hostway’s enterprise division intros Intel Nehalem server packages.
A new line of advanced server plans has been introduced by Hostway Corp.–an enterprise-class hosting solutions provider-that employs Intel’s next-generation processor technology, the Xeon processor 5500 series.
Intel’s Xeon processor 5500 series provides what the company calls “breakthrough virtualization performance and enterprise class features.”
Hostway has packaged a line of new server plans based on the PowerEdge platform from Dell,†including the Quad Core Intel Xeon processor 5500 series and SATA or SAS hard drives (with hardware raid) at prices beginning at $349 per month.
“Hostway is excited to hit the market with these new hosted servers,” Todd Benjamin, director of enterprise hosting for the company. “The new technology will enable our customers to better support the applications that they need to stay competitive, at a cost point not far off from the previous generation.”
According to Hostway, the Xeon 5500 series of processors provides up to 2.25 times higher compute performance over the prior generation while maintaining similar power consumption. It also says the processors offer up to two times more virtualization performance.
The server technology features:
- Intelligent performance, automatically optimizing performance to fit business and application requirements.
- Automated energy efficiency, scaling energy usage to the workload to achieve optimal performance.
- Flexible virtualization.
- Optimized memory.
For a limited time Hostway is offering “double the bandwidth” as well as free set-up on all dedicated server plans based on Intel Xeon processor 5500 series. For more information, visit Hostway’s Web site.
