u-blox, a wireless chip and module company, has launched the first globally standardized UMTS module. The compact LISA-U2 SMT modem series supports all global UMTS standards, enabling Internet access for wireless terminals for use anywhere in the world.
The LISA-U2 series is designed for machine-to-machine use, including security systems, fixed wireless terminals and metering, as well as mobile Internet terminals and tablet computers. Features include:
- Easy migration from u-blox’ LEON GSM/GPRS and LISA U1 modules
- Support for A-GPS and CellLocate positioning technology for advanced telematics applications
- Compatibility with quad-band GPRS/EDGE
- Low power usage
- Operating temperature from -40 to 85 degrees Celsius
- Manufacured in ISO/TS 16949 certified sites, where each module is inspected and tested
