TRENDnet Unveils Gigabit PoE+ Smart Surveillance Switches

ONVIF compliant PoE switches provide convenient access to camera management functions and support PoE self-healing network properties

TRENDnet, a global leader in reliable SMB and consumer networking and surveillance solutions, has unveiled a line of Gigabit PoE+ Smart Surveillance Switches, designed for use with IP cameras and surveillance networks; the switches allow camera management features to be easily accessible from within the switch’s interface. TRENDnet’s Smart Surveillance Switches are ONVIF†compliant, PoE self-healing switches featuring both PoE device auto-recovery and power scheduling.

TRENDnet’s Smart Surveillance Switch series launches with the 18-Port Gigabit PoE+ Smart Surveillance Switch (TPE-3018LS) and the 12-Port Gigabit PoE+ Smart Surveillance Switch (TPE-3012LS). Camera management features accessible via TRENDnet’s Smart Surveillance Switches include viewing live surveillance camera video, updating and modifying administrator access, and upgrading camera firmware. Spanning tree support provides redundancy and fault tolerance to reduce network downtime.

Adding another layer of fault tolerance, and potentially reducing the amount of service or onsite support needed, the Smart Surveillance Switches are ONVIF compliant switches with self-healing functionality (PD alive check and ping watchdog). If communication fails to a connected device such as a surveillance camera, or if the switch fails to respond, the Smart Surveillance Switches will power cycle or auto-reboot the affected Ethernet port and/or the entire switch to reduce downtime.

“TRENDnet’s Smart Surveillance Switches are designed to simplify the installation and management of surveillance networks, especially for integrators and installers, by conveniently allowing camera management features to be available from within the switch interface,” said†Evan Davis, senior manager, solutions engineering at TRENDnet. “These switches are optimized for the surveillance industry with an intuitive graphical dashboard, which includes real-time information on the switch and each connected device to better aid installers with monitoring and troubleshooting.”

TRENDnet Gigabit PoE+ Smart Surveillance Switches are equipped with both PoE+ ports and standard gigabit ports; SFP slots support long-distance fiber networking applications. As an added feature, the Smart Surveillance Switches also support long distance PoE+ networking up to double the current PoE standard distance (up to 656 ft. away).

A front-facing LED display shows total PoE power, available power, and power-per-port. Each TRENDnet Smart Surveillance Switch features an easy-to-use web-based management interface. Advanced managed switch features include IPv6, LACP to increase bandwidth, VLANs for virtual device groupings, QoS for traffic prioritization, IGMP Snooping for multicast traffic, and port bandwidth controls.
