snom Expands Capabilities with Microsoft Lync

IP business phone maker snom technology AG has broadened its UC edition phones to feature expanded calling, collaboration, and integration capabilities with Microsoft Lync.

snom is introducing new firmware that supports enhanced PC pairing via Ethernet with Lync-qualified devices. Enabled features include click-to-dial, call transfer, and ad-hoc conferencing (a feature whereby users drag and drop Lync contacts from their snom desktop phone into the Lync Phone Edition soft client).

“This new snom UC edition firmware offers full support for enhanced ‘better together’ and puts the snom qualified devices on a par with Microsoft Lync-optimized devices while also bringing a whole set of additional features exclusive to snom devices,” says snom Chief Technology Officer Usman Tahir.

snom’s UC edition phones also support important Lync integration and device management capabilities with Lync Server. The snom 7xx series and snom 821 UC edition phones feature firmware that enables the phones to natively connect to the Lync server for out-of-the box configuration for fast provisioning of these SIP-based phones in multi-site SMB Microsoft Lync environments. Further, the phones support 802.1x authentication for enhanced wired endpoint security with Lync voice deployments.

All of snom's Lync-qualified and Lync-optimized IP phones will be on display at Booth #322 at Microsoft's World Partner Conference (WPC) taking place at the George Brown Convention Center in Houston from July 7 to July 11.
