Distributed data management Sanbolic has announced general availability of its Melio Latency Targeted Allocator (LTA), a storage management and performance module enhancement to the company’s Melio data management platform.
The LTA is designed to provide cost effective performance, scale-out, and application high availability in mixed hard disk drive and solid state disk (SSD) deployments.†
Sanbolic Melio featuring the LTA enhancement provides customers with a flexible, scalable, and available storage environment while, at the same time, benefitting from the incorporation of SSD in their physical, virtual, and cloud workloads.
“While flash or NAND storage can provide the most dramatic performance improvement across business critical applications, it is not without its challenges, such as inefficient management and resource utilization, restricted (non-existent) scale-out capabilities, and a lack of high availability,” states Sanbolic in a press release submitted to ChannelPro-SMB. “Moreover, customers are forced into making storage media choices that result in inefficient deployment of SSD, instead of enabling them to benefit and drastically improve their overall storage infrastructure and application availability.”
Sanbolic’s Melio, featuring the new LTA, enables the creation of an application-aware shared storage architecture.† It integrates advanced data and volume management capabilities, including software RAID stack, rapid resource provisioning, snapshots, disaster recovery, quality of service, and storage live migration into a workload, hypervisor, and hardware agnostic offering.†
The resulting solution enables customers to consolidate, protect, and manage physical and virtual workloads for a more efficient and scalable shared cluster of business critical applications across private and public clouds.† †
“The addition of the LTA module into Sanbolic’s Melio data management platform will revolutionize how system, application, and database administrators architect their data centers,” says Sanbolic co-founder and CEO Momchil Michailov. “It will allow them for the first time to ensure high-availability and eliminate the inherent single points of failure of server-side flash storage.”
Sanbolic Melio Platform with the new LTA features:
- Multi-workload, multi-hypervisor, and multi-site support.
- Increased application availability through active-active access to critical data, independent of the underlying storage hardware.
- Ability to dynamically provision storage, data-protection levels, and QoS to ensure consistent application performance.
- Centralized management of resources.†
Sanbolic Melio software, featuring the new LTA, is now generally available and priced at MSRP $9,600, which includes one year of support.
