HP unveiled the HP UPS R1500 G3 and the HP UPS R/T3000 G2 this week. The new high-density and high-efficiency uninterruptible power systems (UPS) are designed for SMBs managing space-constrained rack environments.
With new communication firmware, shutdown protection software, and an optional network management card, these HP systems can communicate directly in a variety of networking environments, including Web and complex virtualized environments.
The new HP R/T3000 G2 UPS packs up to 3,300 volt amps and 3,000 watts into a space-saving, 2U (3.5 inches) design. Digital signal processor technology is designed to ensure clean, reliable power protection in a transformer-less system that also reduces generated heat.
The HP R/T3000 G2 UPS includes a rack-to-tower conversion kit for non-rack applications outside the data center or to support multiple tower servers, wiring closets, and blade enclosures.
The HP R1500 G3 is an ultra slim 1500 VA rack-mount UPS designed to ease network managers’ need for additional rack space while maintaining high-availability power backup. With up to 1500 VA/1050 W, the UPS measures just 1U (1.75 inches) and provides significant power density.
In addition, HP offers an Enhanced Battery Management (EBM) technology that can double the battery life within the HP UPS in comparison to competitive batteries on the market. With EBM, the need to regularly replace and recycle old batteries is reduced. EBM features an advance self-testing system that provides a 30-day pre-failure warning, leaving sufficient time for customers to replace the hot-swappable batteries before trouble occurs.
For additional management flexibility of connected / protected devices, the UPSs provide separate load segments, which enable a customizable configuration of each segment’s power backup requirements.
Bundled with HP’s new Power Protector software, the HP UPS R1500 G3 and HP UPS R/T3000 G2 feature serial and USB ports for data exchange with the host computer and remote shut-down. The optional HP UPS Network Module provides additional functionality, such as scheduled shutdowns, additional operating systems support including VMware and Hyper-V, and redundant UPS support for no single point of failure.
The UPS comes with a three-year warranty and a $250,000 load protection guarantee. Sold through authorized dealers, the HP UPS R1500 G3 and HP UPS R/T3000 G2 are available now with U.S. Internet prices starting at $849.
