Datto Ships EDR Solution

Designed for MSPs with limited in-house security expertise, the new product automatically maps threats to the MITRE ATT&CK framework and lets users perform remediation measures from directly within the same dashboard that displays alerts.

Kaseya unit Datto has added an endpoint detection and response solution to its growing family of cybersecurity solutions.

Based on technology the company acquired in January along with EDR vendor Infocyte, Datto EDR fills an increasingly critical need for MSPs and their SMB clients, according to Chris McKie, the company’s vice president of product marketing for security and networking solutions.

“Standard security tools aren’t enough anymore,” said McKie in a media statement. “Threat actors have found ways to circumvent traditional security measures, making EDR tools more important than ever for catching suspicious activity and keeping businesses safe from increasingly sophisticated cyberattacks.”

The new product uses what Datto calls patented deep memory analysis to protect desktops, notebooks, and servers running Windows, MacOS, or Linux. Designed for use by channel pros without skilled—and therefore both scarce and expensive—in-house security experts, the system automatically maps threats to the MITRE ATT&CK framework to provide context for threats and clarify the dangers they pose.

“Click-to-respond” functionality, Datto says, then lets technicians isolate hosts, terminate processes, delete files, and perform other remediation measures from directly within the same dashboard that displays alerts.

Integration with Datto RMM allows MSPs to manage, deploy, and operate Datto EDR from within the remote monitoring and management solution they use to view and address other technical issues. The new system integrates as well with Kaseya One, parent company Kaseya’s cross-product hub for viewing invoices, getting support, and other operational tasks.

Datto EDR is the first endpoint detection and response solution in Kaseya’s IT Complete platform, which already includes email security, vulnerability scanning, compliance management, dark web monitoring, security awareness training, identity and access management and other security components from Kaseya units Graphus, ID Agent, and RapidFire Tools, as well as BDR products from Datto and Unitrends.

Another Kaseya brand, managed detection and response vendor RocketCyber, supports Datto’s recently introduced Managed SOC solution.

Datto first disclosed the forthcoming release of an EDR product at its DattoCon partner event in September. The company discussed plans to introduce a SASE solution at that show as well.

Datto’s first security solution beyond the BDR solutions that established it as a force in the managed services market was a threat protection solution for the Microsoft cloud shipped last October.

Global spending on EDR solutions will rise at a 25.15% CAGR to $6.72 billion by 2026, according to Mordor Intelligence. Most cyber insurance companies require end users to have EDR protection.

Acronis introduced an EDR offering of its own, along with a PSA solution, last week.
