Corsair Expands Its Force Series SSDs

Manufacturer adds 40 GB, 80 GB, and 160 GB models to the lineup.

PC components innovator Corsair announced three new capacities in its Force Series solid-state drives this week. The company has added 40 GB, 80 GB, and 160 GB models to the lineup.
Corsair Expands Its Force Series SSDs

Corsair Force Series solid-state drives are based on the SandForce SF-1200 SSD Processor. They include DuraWrite technology for high read and write speeds. Previously, the Force Series included only 60 GB, 120 GB, and 240 GB SSDs.

“The unique architecture of the SF-1200 SSD Processor allows lower capacity drives to perform with nearly the same performance as larger capacity SSDs,” states Corsair in a press release to EH Publishing. “All three new Force Series models support the TRIM command, so write performance is maintained over time.

According to Corsair vice president of technical marketing John Beekley, testing of the new Force Series 40 GB SSD outperformed competing models. “With SandForce’s unique DuraWrite architecture, there is almost no performance penalty when reducing the capacity of the drive,” he says.

The three new additions to the Force Series SSDs from Corsair carry an MSRP of $129.99 for the 40 GB, $229.99 for the 80 GB, and $449.99 for the 160 GB. The new models are expected to begin shipping worldwide in August
