Custom hardware maker Equus Compute Solutions, of Edina, Minn., has inked an agreement to sell Just a Bunch of Flash (JBOF) all-flash storage products from HGST Inc., a member of the Western Digital family of brands.
Optimized for software-defined storage environments, San Jose, Calif.-based HGST’s 2U24 flash storage platform is designed to balance performance with capacity, delivering high IOPS and low latency at up to 184TB of storage space.
Buyers can choose between two configurations: A SATA-based chassis that supports up to 24 CloudSpeed Gen II 2.5″ SSD modules offering up to 46TB of capacity, and a SAS3 chassis that supports 24 Ultrastar 2.5″ SSDs with up to 184TB of capacity. Both options let users start with as few as 12 solid-state drives and upgrade incrementally as requirements grow.
Other features include as many as six 12Gb/s SAS3 connections to the host system and a five-year standard warranty.
“We are excited to offer these HGST JBOF All-Flash systems that deliver maximum performance for our customer’s specific workloads,” said Steve Grady, vice president of customer solutions at Equus, in prepared remarks. “The 2U24 Flash storage platforms address the demanding storage needs of large enterprises and cloud service providers who require dense, shared flash storage.”
According to Equus, citing data from Gartner, 50 percent of data centers will rely solely on solid-state arrays for primary data storage by 2020.
