Lightweight, thin machine comes with optional Intel Core 2 Duo ultra-low voltage processor and up to 8 GBs of RAM.

At just 3.9 pounds, Sony hopes its new Vaio Y series notebook appeals to “students and anyone who is constantly on the go.”

At CES this week, Sony was making the portability push to resellers, calling the notebook ideal for “running multiple programs or streaming movies over a wireless connection.”

With a thin 1.2-inch profile, the Y Series notebook delivers performance using an optional Intel Core 2 Duo ultra-low voltage processor and up to 8 GBs of RAM.

The 13.3-inch LED backlit widescreen display on the Y Series boasts lower power consumption for improved battery life. Moreover, Sony says its Y Series widesreen presents “an incredibly high level of resolution.”

An HDMI output delivers both video and audio to compatible TVs and displays via a single cable (sold separately). The Y Series is also equipped with Stereo Bluetooth technology for streaming audio to such devices as wireless Bluetooth headphones or speakers.††
