Sony Intros New Vaio Products

Three new models feature Windows 7 OS, and they are immediately available for pre-order online.

Sony has unveiled three new units in its Vaio line.†

The new products are:

  • L Touch HD PC/TV–Multi-touch screen provides easy access to your PC, HDTV, or DVR.
  • X-Series Notebook–Housed in a lightweight carbon-fiber chassis, the X Series weighs just 1.6 pounds (with standard battery) and is only just over a half-inch thick.
  • CW-Series Notebook–Colorful notebooks feature Blu-ray technology.

L Touch HD PC/TV

The new touch-enabled, L Touch HD PC/TV multi-media machine is equipped with a 24-inch WUXGA (1920×1080) widescreen panel that displays high-definition content in Full HD resolution.

Select models feature a Blu-ray Disc optical drive. A rewritable BD drive for recording, storing, and playing back personal content on high-capacity BD media is also available.

Select models feature a built-in tuner for connection to digital cable TV service and Over-The-Air (ATSC) HD TV signals (antenna required). An optional HDMI input is available for connection to HD cable box, satellite receiver, or PlayStation 3 (all sold separately).

The L Touch HD PC/TV comes with built-in DVR capabilities and up to a terabyte of storage. It comes with Windows 7 Home Premium or Professional 64-bit operating system.

The unit boasts an Intel Core 2 Quad processor (select models), and a dedicated nVidia GeForce series graphics for graphic-intense gaming and movies.

The VAIO L Touch HD PC/TV will start at about $1,300. It is available for pre-orders online.

VAIO X Series

Housed in a lightweight carbon-fiber chassis, the X Series weighs just 1.6 pounds (with standard battery) and is only just over a half-inch thick.It features a 16:9 aspect ratio via a scratch-resistant LCD display with LED backlight technology.

It integrates wireless 3G Mobile Broadband technology provided by Verizon Wireless Mobile Broadband, built-in Wi-Fi (802.11n), and Bluetooth wireless technologies.The X Series incorporates a solid state drive (SSD). It comes standard with Windows 7 Home Premium operating system.

The VAIO X Series notebook will come in two colors–black and gold–and start at about $1,300. It is available for pre-orders online.

VAIO CW Series

The CW Series notebook features a 14-inch widescreen display with a 16:9 aspect ratio in a thin-and-light chassis.

The notebook features an optional Blu-ray Disc drive. It also incorporates an HDMI output and nVidia GeForce dedicated graphics card.

The CW series comes in five high-gloss colors: fiery red, poppy pink, icy white, jet black and indigo purple.

The VAIO CW series notebook starts at about $780. It will be available online at the end of October
