Integration with Microsoft’s cloud-based operating system means that the document management application can now offer SMBs additional scalability, replication, and reliability for data.
Document management developer Motive Systems has announced a new version of M-Files Cloud Vault that runs natively on the Windows Azure cloud platform.
Azure is a scalable cloud-based operating system that leverages geographically distributed data centers to rapidly deploy solutions in a variety of vertical markets.
The Azure-based M-Files Cloud Vault will be showcased at Microsoft Dynamics Convergence 2011 in Atlanta this week (April 10 through April 13).
M-Files is a professional document management system that enables SMBs to organize, manage, and track business documents and processes. M-Files users store documents using simple tags and keywords.
According to Motive Systems, the new version is “the first professional document management solution running on Azure.”
“With Windows Azure, our customers can quickly deploy custom document management solutions without large upfront costs,” says Petri Salonen, Motive System’s senior vice president of Microsoft global partnerships. “Our vertically-focused partners can create custom, industry-specific solutions based on the M-Files platform, including those with demanding regulatory compliance requirements. They can also get to market quickly while minimizing their investments in new product customization and integration.”
According to Motive Systems, the Azure platform provides benefits to the M-Files Cloud Vault solution, including:
Scalability — Windows Azure provides M-Files with virtually unlimited scalability, no matter how much data is being stored.
Reliability — Azure enables allocation over a large number of distributed smaller systems. “If one system gets overloaded or fails, the impact is minimized,” states a Motive System press release.
Replication and Geo-Distribution — There is more than one copy of a business’s data, and it is distributed geographically. “Having more than one copy in different locations insulates a business from the risk a server failure, power outage, or natural disaster in a particular area,” states the press release.
Storage – An SMB pays only for what is used, and will always have access to additional space as needed.
Data and Application Integration — Integrated into the Microsoft core product stack, M-Files uses Web services for both data and application integration. For example, M-Files integrates with Dynamic, Office, and SharePoint product families.
M-Files Cloud Vault running on Azure is offered as a service priced at $39 per month, per user. M-Files is also available as an on-premise software solution that can be purchased as a paid-up license.
