HP Updates Commercial Desktop lines, Expands HP Presence, Adds HP Chromebox Enterprise G4

HP today announced several notable updates to its commercial desktop portfolio, all while highlighting the benefits of desktop computing in hybrid work scenarios.

HP today announced several notable updates to its commercial desktop portfolio, all while highlighting the benefits of desktop computing in hybrid work scenarios like better performance and a longer lifecycle, as well as its commitment to sustainability. Included in its announcement are refreshed internals for some models, expanded deployment and new features for its growing HP Presence collaboration solutions, a new enterprise focused Chromebox, and many other small and full form factor commercial desktops.

On sustainability, HP notes that all its 2023 desktops contain recycled materials, including ocean-bound plastic, and 100% sustainably sourced. The company is also making efforts to offer recycling and/or expand the useful life of products wherever possible, using its Elite all-in-one monitor mode as an example. With monitor mode, end users can decouple the computer from the display, allowing the user to continue using the all-in-one as a monitor after it reaches the end of its typical service life.

As for the hardware itself, HP’s commercial desktop PCs have been given the 13th generation Intel Core processor treatment, allowing customers to choose Intel’s latest processors for improved performance. Comparing performance with its HP EliteOne 870, some benchmarks run up to 30% faster compared to previously shipping models equipped with 12th generation parts. HP also notes that the G9 lineup will support both 12th and 13th generation Intel Core processors.

In addition, HP is expanding its HP Presence collaboration experiences beyond premium mobile devices, notebooks, and premium all-in-ones to more people, devices, and price points. Using a combination of software and supported peripherals, HP Presence can enhance collaboration with improved audio and video through features such as HP Keystone Correction, AI video noise reduction, auto camera select via intelligent face tracking, and multiple camera support.

New to the portfolio is the HP Chromebox Enterprise G4, targeted toward IT administrators seeking a more cloud-first solution with better performance and scalable deployment. The Chromebox Enterprise G4 features up to a 13th generation Intel Core i7 processor, scalable SSD storage and memory, support for three 4k displays, and Chrome Enterprise Upgrade. Pricing for the Chromebox Enterprise G4 was not announced, but should be known closer to availablity.

Finally, HP touched on some enhancements to their configuration services that can allow for factory shipped custom configured hardware with pre-loaded PC images and BIOS configurations, custom hardware procurement and testing, as well as physical device tracking, custom packaging, and more. HP says these improvements allow for better out-of-the box experience with zero touch required.
