MSPs Love How Eaton’s Network-M3 Prevents Downtime and Cyberattacks

Elevate your security strategy with the Eaton Network-M3. Protect endpoints and manage power with advanced cybersecurity features.

MSPs are under pressure. Not only to protect endpoints and networks but also the infrastructure supporting them. That’s why Eaton’s Gigabit Network Card (Network-M3) is generating industry buzz. It combines automated power management with advanced, built-in cybersecurity to help MSPs reduce downtime while locking down a frequently overlooked entry point.

“CISA has issued advisories warning that internet-connected UPS devices are being actively targeted by threat actors,” said James Martin, global project manager at Eaton. “Many devices lack basic protections like encryption or access controls, making them easy entry points into critical infrastructure.”

How Eaton Network-M3 Secures Your Power Devices

As cyberthreats grow more sophisticated, attackers are increasingly looking for unconventional access points. Power devices — often unmanaged and overlooked — offer just that. Securing them isn’t optional anymore. For MSPs, the Network-M3 turns a critical vulnerability into a fortified asset, closing critical gaps without adding complexity or management overhead.

The Network-M3 addresses those weaknesses head on. It’s the first UPS network card to meet UL 2900-1 and IEC 62443-4-2 cybersecurity standards, offering a secure foundation out of the box. It protects not just the power layer, but the broader IT environment it supports.

“It’s built with a Zero Trust architecture, meaning no implicit trust,” Martin said. “Combined with secure boot, signed firmware, TLS 1.3, and UL 2900-1 cybersecurity certification, Network-M3 hardens infrastructure with security baked in, not bolted on.”

Robust Protocol Support

Beyond protection, it’s built to streamline deployment and support. Eaton’s Zero Touch Provisioning (ZTP) enables remote configuration without on-site setup. This reduces installation time, minimizes human error, and accelerates multisite rollouts for MSPs.

“ZTP slashes deployment time and errors by enabling remote configuration out of the box,” Martin said. “Paired with secure firmware validation, it brings enterprise-grade security and scalability to power infrastructure.

“Robust protocol support — SNMP, Syslog, MQTT among many others — makes integration with existing monitoring and security tools seamless. Add remote management and alerts, and MSPs get fewer site visits and faster issue resolution.”

Security aside, the card also enables significant new MSP revenue by supporting proactive, managed power services. By shifting from reactive support to predictive maintenance and monitoring, MSPs can offer higher-value contracts that improve client outcomes and justify premium pricing.

A Surefire Revenue Booster

With less manual work, MSPs can grow revenue without adding staff.

“It’s absolutely a moneymaker. Think proactive maintenance, SLA compliance, and reduced downtime, all of which translate to new recurring revenue stream,” he shared.

In Martin’s words, the value proposition is simple: “It’s not just a network card, it’s a cybersecurity-enabled, service-ready platform that helps you future-proof client infrastructure and differentiate your offerings.”
