ICYMI: Our Channel News Roundup for the Week of March 8th

Security goodies from Keeper, Sophos, and RocketCyber, new execs for BitTitan and NinjaRMM, and the perfect play set for work-from-home drones in training are but a few of the stories we’re finally bringing your way.

The mammoth deep freeze is behind us and we spring forward into daylight saving time while asleep early Sunday morning. Spring itself officially starts on March 20, but does that mean you can put up your snow shovel? What a silly thought! A new winter storm will dump multiple inches to multiple feet of almost-spring snow from the Rockies to points east this weekend. Read these newsbits as an excuse to postpone shoveling.

Sophos Intercept XSecurity news. Who loves passwords? Nobody. So Keeper Security released Keeper SSO Connect Cloud, a fully-managed SAML 2.0 SaaS tool that integrates with any identity provider. Enhance or extend your single sign-on deployments with a cloud alternative to Keeper’s on-premises product.

There are more ways to hack victims than malware these days, unfortunately, such as fileless attacks. Hello to “”dynamic shellcode protection,”” an addition to Sophos Intercept X focused on preventing outsiders from using remote agents to gain “”hands on keyboard”” privileges.

Still have clients using Microsoft Exchange Server, the on-prem email product jam packed with dangerous zero days? Get in line. Then check out the latest RocketApp from RocketCyber to automatically find Microsoft Exchange Servers and create an incident for systems that still need patching.

Do you trust your mobile users to follow security guidelines? Ha, ha, ha, we chuckle together. Check out the new Secure Web Gateway from Menlo Security for mobile devices. Cut the treat of malware and phishing attacks on unpatched browsers.

Nozomi Networks’ Vantage, now generally available, is a SaaS-based system to protect any number of IoT, OT, IT, edge, and cloud assets from a single platform.

Jamf, the Apple management folks, integrated Jamf Protect into Microsoft Azure Sentinel’s central visibility and automation platform. Plugs Mac data and activity from Jamf’s purpose-built security capabilities.

If you’re familiar with unified access orchestration players, you may have noticed Greenlight Technologies is now Pathlock. Name is new, but the focus remains on providing 360-degree application protection.

SericeNow App Engine StudioOther product news. ServiceNow opened the curtains on its Now Platform Quebec release. New AI support, low-code app development tools with the App Engine Studio and App Engine Templates (pictured), and even more goodies.

Data integration and data integrity player Talend will be acquired by Thoma Bravo, owners of ConnectWise, Sophos, and Barracuda, among many others. Transaction value is around $2.4 billion, which includes a 29% bump over Talend’s closing price on March 9.

CoreNexa Microsoft Teams Integrator from CoreDial will hit the streets on March 15th . Features include direct routing all calls from within the Teams platform.

Lithium-ion batteries aren’t just in your phone or electric car these days. The new Vertiv Liebert PSI5 line-interactive UPS family packs a bunch of backup power punch into new rack/tower and mini-tower configurations. Lithium-ion batteries last 2-3x longer, Vertiv says, can run at higher temperatures, and are smaller and lighter.

More and more companies plan to continue with a dispersed workforce, so LogMeIn has revved up GoToConnect’s mobile experience and Cloud Contact Center as a Service (CCaaS) tool.

Part of the Dell portfolio, Boomi Flow gets a spring refresh (or at least a refresh in the spring) for it’s low-code workflow automation service, including support for multicloud and hybrid cloud deployments.

Manoj KalyanaramanNon-product vendor news. BitTitan promoted Manoj Kalyanaraman (pictured) to vice president of product and engineering, based in its Singapore office.

NinjaRMM rolled out the red carpet for new Chief Revenue Officer Dean Yeck.

Call the welcome wagon for Kristina Lengyel, who joins OpenText as executive vice president, customer solutions.

Ingram Micro and Amazon Web Services have been partnering for years, but they upped their commitment with a new global strategic collaboration agreement.

Sumo Logic will acquire DFLabs, to fold the latter’s SOAR tools into the SIEM products of the former. Terms were not disclosed.

Hot cloud storage meets media asset management and automation tools, now that Wasabi and Primestream safely shook hands to seal a new partnership deal.

Partner program news. Cradlepoint ramped up its partner program with the most important thing: people who have channel experience. Welcome to:

  • Krissy Kelley, VP of global partners and field marketing
  • Lisa Wright, VP of global distribution and partner program
  • Steve Benvenuto, VP of partner sales, Americas
  • Darryl Brick, VP of partner sales, EMEA

If you’re in the cloud business, or have customers who are, you might check out the upgraded Zerto Alliance Partner Program. More help for strategic go-to-market plans and much more.

The Vertiv Partner Program transformed and enhanced to expand access to IT decision makers and more to support partners and customers.

Flowers bloom in spring, and sometimes security channel programs do as well. Witness the new Cobalt Partner Program, with two options for referral or reseller partners and tiers to fit needs and commitment levels.

Another? Check out the iboss Channel Partner program for users of the vendor’s channel-first SASE platform.

Three makes a trend, right? SASE player Perimeter 81 launched a new partner program to carry its effortless security management to clients.

Granite Telecommunications has a new program for resellers. Granite Channels offers partners access to Granite Network Integration services that you can leverage nationwide. More ways to help more customers.

Don’t forget the NetSapiens’ Partner Alliance Program, which aims to go beyond the traditional channel partnership by offering a unique and collaborative selling experience.

This week’s stats ticker:

For International Women’s Day, IBM released a global study titled, “”Women, leadership, and missed opportunities,”” following a similar project published in 2019. Top line news? Gender equality is still not a top priority for 70% of global businesses. The COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown heightened the challenges for women in the workplace, resulting in fewer women holding senior roles such as senior vice president, vice president, director, and manager in 2021 than they did in 2019. Women on the job are less optimistic about the commitment of their organizations to improving gender parity, with the current 62% of hopefuls a drop of 9% from 2019. Ideas for the future include making gender equity a top five formal business priority, applying specific crisis-related interventions such as backup childcare and improved mental health resources, creating a culture of intention, and making room for women in management.

My First WFHYou’re never too young for the joys of remote work. When parents get stuck at home with their children, their children get stuck at home with them as well. What do children do? They watch and parrot their parents, especially when parents do stupid things like curse when they get paper cuts.

How can kids get their own paper cuts? They need the right office tools, of course, and Fisher-Price has filled that void with its My Home Office play set.

For $24.99 retail, you can get a fake laptop, headset, latte cup, pretend phone, and “”4 fabric apps”” that attach to the “”laptop screen”” to “”work”” on different projects.

Appropriately, one of the “”apps”” is a kitten video. Yes, one of the social media comments says, “”We’re all living in hell now.””
