Kaseya Embeds Webroot End Point Security Directly Within its RMM Solution

A new strategic partnership lets Kaseya partners manage end point security through the same interface they use to perform other aspects of end point administration.

Kaseya Ltd. has made end point security software from Webroot Inc. an optional, tightly integrated add-on for its RMM platform.

Under the terms of a strategic alliance announced today, partners of the managed services software maker, which maintains dual headquarters in New York City and Miami, now have access to a plug-in called the Webroot Kaseya Module that embeds Broomfield, Colo.-based Webroot’s SecureAnywhere Business Endpoint Protection offering directly within the Kaseya VSA interface. That enables technicians to handle all aspects of endpoint administration through a single console.

Users can purchase Webroot licenses from directly within Kaseya VSA now as well.

“Our customers rely on us to deliver best-in-class solutions that will enable them to effectively and securely manage their IT infrastructure,” said Kaseya chief product officer Mike Puglia in a press statement. “The combination of Kaseya’s industry-leading IT management platform and Webroot’s proven cloud-based endpoint security solution means that our customers can not only offer better protection against threats, but also increase operating margins by significantly reducing the complexities and inefficiencies associated with managing two disparate products.”

According to Kaseya, the Webroot Kaseya Module is designed for maximum simplicity. The system takes 2 minutes to install and configure, automatically discovers previously deployed Webroot end point agents, and offers synchronized management of Kaseya and Webroot end point groups. Utilizing the Unity API that Webroot introduced last November, moreover, MSPs can augment and customize the default metrics imported by the new plug-in.

“Organizations need endpoint security solutions that are cost effective yet powerful, efficient yet highly secure,” said Charlie Tomeo, vice president of channel and technical sales at Webroot, in today’s press release. “The partnership of Kaseya and Webroot offers an automated solution that meets these requirements.”

The Webroot Kaseya Module supports versions 9 and higher of Kaseya VSA. Kaseya shipped version 9.4 of VSA, which features optional BDR software, in January. Adding embedded end point security software to the solution now moves it further in the direction of providing a comprehensive, integrated suite of essential management services.

Competing vendors such as ConnectWise and Autotask—which added a BDR solution of its own last September—have similar ambitions to deliver end-to-end managed services administration stacks. At present, however, neither vendor integrates endpoint security functionality as closely as Kaseya now does.

Tightly coupled RMM-security solutions are on the way from two other managed services software vendors, however. Boston-based Continuum told ChannelPro last October that it would have a comprehensive set of security offerings in place by the middle of this year, and in November the newly appointed head of Prague-based Avast Software’s SMB business said his team was developing a roadmap for linking the company’s end point security solutions to the RMM software Avast acquired along with AVG Technologies last July.

Today’s announcement comes less than a week after Kaseya launched a new IT management solution specifically targeted at institutions of higher learning.
