Data backup solutions provider STORServer is offering its SMB customers free upgrade of IBM Tivoli Storage Manager to the latest 6.3 version.
STORServer will update customers’ existing licenses on to its faster hardware at no cost, the company states in a press release submitted to ChannelPro-SMB. The offer will end on July 1, 2013.
“Users of TSM v5 are likely struggling with scalability, reliability, and performance problems on top of having difficulty protecting virtual machines,” says Jarrett Potts, STORServer’s director of strategic marketing. “For customers who want the new features and functions of TSM v6.3, such as deduplication, virtual machine backup, or node replication, we’ll provide the upgrade for them at no cost and with little effort on their end.”
IBM support for TSM v5.5 ends this year. STORServer says moving to TSM v6.3 will help SMBSs “reduce costs, simplify administration, and improve application availability.”
Benefits of TSM v6.3 include:
- Improved Scalability
- Built-In Deduplication
- Streamlined Administration Console
- Automatic Agent Updates
- Faster Backups
- Built-In Reporting & Monitoring
- Internal Database†
