The announcement of the iPhone 5 prompts the security company to provide mobile users and network administrators with technology for managing, monitoring, and securing popular Apple products.
Business security solutions provider WatchGuard Technologies has unveiled a new security technology designed specifically for Apple iOS-enabled devices. The new solution provides mobile users with protection for their iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch data while also providing network administrators with a means for managing, monitoring, and securing mobile devices, data, and applications.
Mobile users often need to connect to corporate resources from high-risk locations, such as a free public Wi-Fi hotspots or hotel networks. By creating a mobile virtual private network (VPN) connection via IPSEC, WatchGuard customers with iOS devices are enabled to create fast and easy VPN connections via a WatchGuard XTM firewall appliance.†
An encrypted tunnel is created, securing data traffic from an iOS device to the corporate network and other behind-the-firewall resources. This enables firewall policies and protections to be applied to authorized mobile users, which means WatchGuard customers with iOS devices will gain the benefits of gateway anti-virus, intrusion prevention, and other security services to keep out hackers, spyware, malware, and other threats.† †††
WatchGuard’s line of extensible threat management (XTM) security solutions are designed to consolidate essential security functions, such as stateful packet firewall, VPN, anti-spam, anti-spyware, anti-virus, content filtering, and intrusion prevention in a single appliance.
