Sheetster Pro sees fourth iteration, providing SMBs with an ExtenXLS Java Spreadsheet SDK spreadsheet engine alternative with Excel compatibility.
Open source software solutions developer Extentech has released the latest iteration of its spreadsheet server product, Sheetster Pro.
The new version, Sheetster Pro 4, is “more aligned with the customer,” according to Extentech. The developer claims the open source spreadsheet program provides “extraordinary levels of fidelity with Excel files while maintaining the freedoms associated with open source software.”
In a statement submitted to Channel Pro-SMB, Extentech founder and CEO John McMahon says his company “wanted to release a product that developers could really dig into and make their own.” He says, “With Sheetster Pro 4, we are giving our customers the most choices and the most business alignment, while avoiding being locked into a desktop software package or a cloud based ‘walled garden.'”
Sheetster Pro 4 has been overhauled to be a more dynamic, robust option “with the most comfortable and familiar spreadsheet user interface possible,” according to Extentech. Under the hood, the ExtenXLS Java Spreadsheet SDK spreadsheet engine provides SMB users with Excel compatibility and performance. Meanwhile the company points out, “Sheetster Server provides complete control of documents, deployment options, and data as well as unprecedented data storage options through pluggable WebDAV, MindTouch, and CMIS connectors.”
The new version also features new PowerList Technology, which enables SMB users to generate stylized HTML lists from named ranges. Additionally, Sheetster Pro 4’s enhanced scalable vector graphics enable them to embed personalized, programmable live data charts and tables into blogs and Web pages.
“Sheetster Pro 4’s newest features result in an alternative to Google Spreadsheet and Office365,” the company says.
