Data storage innovator Drobo has introduced a new solution of interest to SMB resellers. It’s called Drobo B1200i, and it’s a SAN storage device designed to provide reliable performance to servers running such business-critical applications as data protection, email, and server virtualization. It connects seamlessly to existing TCP/IP network and utilizes the industry-standard iSCSI protocol.
The new 12-bay Drobo provides SMBs clients with a unique storage solution for VMware, Microsoft Exchange, and other business applications by taking an application-driven approach to storage.
According to Drobo CEO Tom Buiocchi, the revolutionary aspect of the new product comes from its automated data-aware tiering. “SMBs are often forced to cobble together multiple, expensive solutions, spending disproportionate money and time on storage rather than delivering applications that meet user needs,” he explains. “Drobo for business is different in that it continues to meld even more ‘big technology’ with ‘Drobo ease-of-use’, all in one box – for the best storage experience ever.”
Pricing for the Drobo iSCSI SAN storage device starts under $10,000 for 12 TB of SAS storage.
