The Data Protection Service Management model is being directed at the channel’s managed services providers in an effort to evaluate backup environments and map data protection policies.
Data protection management software developer Bocada Inc., creator of the Data Protection Service Management (DPSM) model, has a new initiative designed to drive adoption of the company’s Bocada Prism.
The initiative is built in part on Bocada’s network of managed services providers (MSP), who together manage nearly 600,000 backup clients using Bocada solutions.
Bocada’s Prism solution guides MSPs through the DPSM model, which is a process of evaluating the backup environment, mapping data protection policies to the requirements of clients’ businesses, and improving IT and operational alignment.
Bocado is focusing on MSPs because the managed service providers presents a market of resellers that will showcase Prism as a means of providing compliance, audit and, capacity usage management, and automatic chargeback/billing reports.
“Unlike standard error, trend, or usage reporting solutions, Prism is able to show an MSP how an error or flaw in the data protection environment impacts the ability to adhere to an SLA, policy, or compliance objective,” the company explains in a press release submitted to Channel Pro-SMB.
Bocada supports the broadest range of backup applications and is developing additional plug-in support for targeted applications used by MSP and SaaS providers. It also provides integration with trouble-ticketing and PSA solutions to streamline service management operations.
“Prism was ‘architected’ with service providers in mind, it is the only solution on the market focused on Data Protection Service Management and is the ideal solution for MSPs offering backup services to their customers,” says Bocada CEO Nancy Hurley.
