New software-purchase tool is available on techdata.com. The distributor says the new app is one of several forthcoming e-business solutions for partners.
Tech Data Corp.’s new StreamOne Software License Selector got some attention last week. The new application guides resellers through the software-purchasing process. The software sorts through hundreds of software SKUs and keeps tracks of vendors’ various licensing rules in order to help VARs identify the correct software part number as well as the best price and correct license type.
The new application is the first in a series of “exclusive e-business services that the company is building,” according to a Tech Data press release submitted to Channel Pro-SMB. All the new e-business solutions will be built on the company’s StreamOne software platform, and all will be available via techdata.com.
The StreamOne Software License Selector “lowers licensing processing costs, instantly provides accurate pricing, and makes it easy to attach software to all hardware sales,” states the Tech Data press release.
“Many resellers avoid pursuing lucrative, margin-rich software sales because of the complexity of software licensing,” said
Stacy Nethercoat, vice president of software product marketing with Tech Data, adds to the statement, saying, “For the first time ever, there is no need for a reseller to be an expert or invest in expensive resources or training to sell software.”
Software vendors supported by the StreamOne Software License Selector include Absolute Software, Acronis, Adobe, Autodesk, BitDefender, CA, Check Point, Corel, Datawatch, Diskeeper, Double-Take, Ericom, Filemaker, Intuit, Ipswitch, Kaspersky, McAfee, Micro Focus, Microsoft, Novell, Nuance, Oracle, Panda, Parallels, Red Hat, Sage, SAP, SCO, SolarWinds, St. Bernard, Sybase, Symantec, Trend Micro, USA.NET, Vasco, Vizioncore, and VMware.
