D&H Adds Kodak Document Imaging Scanners to Its Portfolio
Distributor says digitizing documents is an up-and-coming business concern in the SMB space.
D&H Distributing, a major North American computer products and consumer electronics distributor, has entered into an agreement with Eastman Kodak Company to distribute the company’s document imaging solutions, including document scanners.
D&H hopes that SMBs will digitize and share within their respective networks various paper documents in order to streamline processes and reduce paper consumption for increased productivity and operational savings.
“Document imaging is positioned to be a growing category in SMB,” states a D&H press release. “The archiving and storage requirements of small businesses persist as these offices accumulate crucial data, some of which is subject to specific security regulations, such as HIPAA in the healthcare vertical.”
“We foresee document imaging as an up-and-coming area in SMB,” says Rob Eby, vice president of purchasing at D&H. “So, we’re increasing our investment in this space for our resellers.” He adds, “Kodak’s feature-rich, smart document scanners create an ecologically-conservative, cost-effective incentive for offices to convert to a virtually paperless environment, while streamlining their archiving procedures.”
For its part, Kodak is “pleased to work with D&H, since the distributor concentrates on SMB businesses,” says Ron Passantino, director document imaging national distribution sales at Kodak. “SMBs account for large portions of the business community. These companies are adopting document capture and management in order to help improve operational efficiency, reduce costs, meet government regulations, better compete with the big guys, and increase customer satisfaction.”
Kodak’s document imaging products and solutions will be joining D&H’s portfolio of digital cameras and all-in-one printers already being distributed.
Products, such as the small-footprint Kodak Scan Station 500 networked scanner, enable the operator to include a “voice attachment” with his or her document, which can then be sent to the network for e-mail, printing, faxing, etc. Moreover, Kodak’s personal workgroup document scanner–the Kodak Scanmate i1120 scanner–is ideal for small businesses and home-based offices.†
D&H will carry Kodak’s entire distributed capture portfolio. This also includes the s1220 Photo Scanning System, which designed for behind-the-counter retail use in turning photo prints into digital image files for use in custom CDs, DVDs, or online uploads.
