Network Box Introduces New Anti-Virus Engine
Virus detection product Sentinel AV is designed to reduce response time by the development of its own signatures for protecting against emerging viruses.
Managed security service company Network Box launched a new virus detection product (with services) this week. Called Sentinel AV, the anti-virus engine aims to respond to new Internet threats at reduced amounts of time.
Sentinel AV develops its own signatures for protecting against emerging viruses. It works with Network Box’s existing anti-virus technology.
Moreover, according to Network Box, Sentinel AV is designed to respond “within one minute of a threat being seen.” Oftentimes, it takes the security industry several hours to release a new signature.
“August 2010 saw another huge increase in the number of malicious viruses spreading via email,” states Network Box in a press release submitted to EH Publishing. “The sheer volume of malware … means the process of protecting against an emerging threat using traditional technology can take several hours”
The Network Box Sentinel AV anti-virus engine aims to reduce this time, according to the company, by producing its own signatures along with releasing millions of antivirus signatures from the top antivirus software manufacturers. “Response times during testing were less than 30 seconds for a signature to deal with a single new suspicious sample,” the company reports.
