SolarWinds MSP Completes Integration of Its Risk Intelligence and SaaS RMM Platform

Managed services software maker SolarWinds MSP has completed the integration of its MSP Risk Intelligence (MSP RI) system and MSP Remote Monitoring and Management (MSP RMM) application.

The news comes a week after the Durham, N.C.-based vendor introduced a new unified product portfolio combining assets from its SolarWinds N-able and LOGICnow units and began phasing out both the N-able and LOGICnow brands. Parent company SolarWinds Worldwide LLC purchased LOGICnow in June.

Introduced in February and known as MAX Risk Intelligence until last week, when SolarWinds MSP introduced new names for its entire product portfolio, MSP RI scans end user environments for sensitive information, as well as security gaps that could leave that information exposed to unauthorized viewers. It then helps MSPs build a business case for closing those gaps by calculating the potential cost of a data breach drawing on industry-standard estimates. The system is based on software LOGICnow acquired in January when it purchased iScan Online Inc., of Plano, Texas.

MSP RMM, previously known as MAX RM, is a cloud-based platform that complements SolarWinds MSP’s on-premises RMM solution. Formerly called SolarWinds N-able N-central, that latter system is now named MSP N-central.

“Cyber-attacks are growing at a rapid pace, in frequency and sophistication, therefore MSPs must take immediate action to improve the security protection they provide to customers,” said Billy Austin, SolarWinds MSP’s vice president of security in a press statement. “With MSP RI, customers will be able to communicate data security risks in a language everyone understands—financial impact to the business.”

Finalizing the integration of MSP RI and MSP RMM was one of several product roadmap milestones for 2016 SolarWinds MSP announced last week. Others included launching a new edition of MSP N-central, tightening the integration between that solution and the company’s MSP Backup & Recovery system, integrating N-central’s MSP Connect desktop remote control tool more closely with MSP RMM, and introducing new agentless monitoring functionality that MSP N-central and MSP RMM users can employ to manage routers, printers, and firewalls.

“In the past few months, SolarWinds MSP has already proven its success in international markets and as we continue to grow, we are working together to ensure MSPs worldwide have access to our comprehensive IT tools all within one dashboard,” said Austin in today’s press release.

SolarWinds MSP is expected to outline roadmap plans for 2017, and address partner concerns about recent changes in the company’s leadership, at the MAX 2016 channel event it will host in Edinburgh, Scotland, next month.
