NinjaRMM Builds Application Patching Technology from Ivanti into Remote Monitoring and Management Platform

Provided at no cost, the new functionality enables MSPs to patch over 100 third-party applications widely used by SMBs centrally and automatically.

NinjaRMM has added patch management technology for third-party applications from Ivanti Software to its flagship RMM platform.

The new capability, which is now a standard, built-in feature of the NinjaRMM solution provided at no extra cost, lets MSPs who already patch endpoint operating systems apply updates to over 100 applications widely used by SMBs, centrally and automatically, as well.

San Francisco-based NinjaRMM quietly initiated a soft launch of the functionality a month ago, and put it into general availability today. Both current and new customers can utilize it immediately.

The company chose to partner with Ivanti, an IT management and security software maker headquartered in South Jordan, Utah, rather than develop a solution in house or work with another vendor based on the strength of its patch management capabilities, according to John Reumann, NinjaRMM’s vice president of business development.

“Ivanti’s product is really second to none, and it’s so easy to integrate,” he says.

Access to third-party application patching enables MSPs to provide their customers an extra layer of security at a time of rampant and proliferating threats, Reumann adds.

“Patching is a key component to anyone’s security infrastructure,” he says, noting that many MSPs don’t have the time to perform that function regularly.

“Ninja now just does it automatically for you on the fly,” Reumann states. “You’re taking a proactive approach and getting it done for [customers] in a timely manner.”

The system applies patches on a schedule MSPs set in advance, however, to avoid impacting the availability or performance of production systems.

“It gives control to the MSPs,” Reumann notes.

NinjaRMM, which had 1,000 partners as recently as August, is up to 1,300 now. The company hired a new chief revenue officer earlier this year in connection with a larger effort to ramp up sales and marketing efforts, after a period of emphasis on engineering and support
