McAfee Announces MOVE AntiVirus for VMware Cloud on AWS

McAfee MOVE AntiVirus provides customers with agentless threat protection for Virtual Machines in AWS

McAfee, one of the leading independent cybersecurity companies, today announced McAfee Management for Optimized Virtual Environments (MOVE) AntiVirus is available to customers of VMware Cloud on Amazon Web Services (AWS). Launched with initial availability in AWS US West (Oregon) region, VMware Cloud on AWS brings together VMware’s enterprise-class Software-Defined Data Center (SDDC) software and elastic, bare-metal infrastructure from AWS to give organizations consistent operating model and application mobility for private and public cloud. McAfee MOVE AntiVirus delivers agentless threat protection for virtual machines (VM) to customers of VMware Cloud on AWS.

McAfee MOVE AntiVirus is a threat protection solution optimized for performance in virtual environments. It removes the need to install an agent on every VM, yet provides the protection and performance needed for your organizational requirements. Traditional security solutions that run on every VM contribute to high disk central processing units (CPU) and memory usage resulting in reduced VM density on each hypervisor. McAfee MOVE AntiVirus solves this issue by offloading all on-access scanning to a dedicated VM that runs McAfee VirusScan Enterprise. Thus, traditional threat protection applications are not required on each guest VM, improving performance and increasing VM density per hypervisor. McAfee MOVE AntiVirus brings malware protection to your virtualized environments, and integrates real-time threat intelligence with security management across your physical and virtual infrastructure.

“The ability to use McAfee MOVE AntiVirus with VMware Cloud on AWS is a great step forward for customers who want to extend the protection they have on existing data centers out to the hybrid cloud from a single security management interface,” said Raja Patel, vice president and general manager, Corporate Security Products, McAfee. “McAfee is committed to protecting our customers using VMware Cloud on AWS and providing operational consistency for their cloud journey.”

VMware Cloud on AWS technology partners enable customers to deploy the same proven solutions seamlessly in both the public and private cloud. VMware simplifies the deployment and eliminates the need for partners to refactor solutions for VMware Cloud on AWS. If a partner solution works on-premises in a VMware vSphere environment, it will easily support VMware Cloud on AWS. VMware technology partners complement and enhance native VMware Cloud on AWS services and enable customers to realize new capabilities.

“VMware Cloud on AWS provides customers a seamlessly integrated hybrid cloud offering that gives customers the SDDC experience from the leader in private cloud, running on the leading public cloud provider, AWS,” said Mark Lohmeyer, vice president, products, Cloud Platforms Business Unit, VMware. “Solutions such as McAfee MOVE AntiVirus enable IT teams to reduce cost, increase efficiency and create operational consistency across cloud environments. We’re excited to work with partners such as McAfee to enhance native VMware Cloud on AWS capabilities and empower customers with flexibility and choice in solutions that can drive business value.”
