Auvik Buys Saaslio and Boardgent

The dual transactions are designed to extend the reach of Auvik’s flagship network management solution beyond the traditional firewall into what the company calls “the last mile” of the network: SaaS applications and endpoints.

Auvik, a maker of network management software, has acquired cloud management vendor Saaslio and remote desktop support vendor Boardgent.

The dual transactions are designed to extend the reach of Auvik’s flagship solution beyond the traditional firewall into what the company calls “the last mile” of the network.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“An organization’s ability to be productive is paramount anywhere,” said Marc Morin, CEO and founder of Auvik, in a press statement. “Auvik is working to support distributed-first organizations that need a centralized tool to monitor and manage the modern work environment. Auvik, Saaslio, and Boardgent have a similar approach to the market and how we value our clients. We believe that the combination of our deep expertise in network monitoring and management, experienced workforces, proprietary technologies, and innovative solutions allows our unified company to deliver the ultimate network monitoring platform.”

Saaslio’s solution inventories an end user’s SaaS applications, identifies security gaps in those systems, and streamlines user onboarding and offboarding. The system integrates with leading PSA applications as well as RMM products from ConnectWise, Kaseya, Kaseya’s Datto unit, N-able, NinjaOne, Syncro, and others.

Saaslio was a semi-finalist in ConnectWise’s 2022 PitchIT competition for startup makers of managed services software.

“The advent of SaaS productivity apps has enabled the work-from-anywhere trend and lessened reliance on VPN connectivity, further complicating the work IT teams must do to keep end-users productive,” said Saaslio founder John Harden. “Now, Saaslio and Auvik will provide IT professionals visibility and centralized control beyond the office firewall and into SaaS applications and issues facing end-users.”

Boardgent’s software helps organizations find, monitor, manage, and access endpoints remotely. Support for Intel’s vPro Active Management Technology adds out-of-band management capabilities to the platform. Security features include the ability to generate and rotate strong user passwords and to encrypt endpoint hard drives with Microsoft’s BitLocker technology.

“Much like Auvik, we want to enable IT pros to quickly resolve any end-user impacting issues,” said Ricardo Polo Jaramillo, Boardgent’s CEO, in prepared remarks. “By joining forces, IT teams can now have the ability to diagnose and resolve end-user experience issues as they arrive, no matter where they sit on the new network.”

Auvik discussed its intention to provide monitoring and management capabilities along the entire path from the traditional network to the cloud with ChannelPro in May. Buying Boardgent in addition to Saaslio positions the company to similarly view and support the path from network to endpoint.

Auvik received $250 million in funding from private equity firm Great Hill Partners some 15 months ago. The company plans to use that money both to broaden its management capabilities and to scale its platform beyond an initial base among small and midsize MSPs into larger providers as well as corporate IT departments. Its purchase of Saaslio and Boardgent follows its acquisition of Wi-Fi management vendor MetaGeek in April.

Auvik’s move to add cloud and endpoint management to its portfolio comes at a time when managed services mainstays like N-able and Kaseya are expanding beyond endpoint management into cloud and network management, along with security. Younger vendors like Augmentt and BetterCloud include SaaS discovery modules in their cloud management solutions as well.
