GREENnet Appeals to Energy-Conscious CES-ers

Consumer Electronics Show attendees get a formal introduction to TRENDnet’s energy efficient switch technologies.

Networking manufacturer TRENDnet announced its GREENnet switches at CES 2011 in Las Vegas today. The company’s announcement included energy efficient GREENnet switches for each port configuration in TRENDnet’s unmanaged Gigabit and 10/100Mbps switch portfolio.

GREENnet Appeals to Energy-Conscious CES-ersGREENnet is a TRENDnet switch-based technology that determines and supplies the appropriate amount of electrical power to each hardwired switching port as required by the connected device, by the port, or by the length of the connected Ethernet cable.

According to TRENDnet at CES, GREENnet technology can reduce port-based power consumption by up to 40 percent for 10/100 Mbps switches, and 70 percent for Gigabit switches.

TRENDnet was one of the first networking hardware brands to launch energy efficient green networking technology to the market. The first GREENnet technology was launched October of 2008.

“Since the launch of GREENnet technology,” explains TRENDnet technology director Sonny Su, “TRENDnet has maintained a strong committed to help reduce our carbon footprint.”

Su adds, “We have steadily replaced our existing switch and router product line with energy efficient GREENnet solutions. TRENDnet is currently phasing out the remaining non GREENnet switches.”
