Cyber Threat Groups Collaborate While Attack Levels Stagnate
NCC Group’s August 2025 Threat Intelligence Report shows ransomware activity holding below 500 attacks for five consecutive months. Industrials and Western regions were hit hardest.
Key findings from the report include:
- Global ransomware volume decreased by 13% in August, with 328 attacks. This was the fifth consecutive month below 500.
- Qilin was the most active threat group, responsible for 16% (53) of all attacks.
- Industrials were the top targeted sector, hit with 37% of all attacks, compared to 27% in July.
- 81% of attacks occurred in North America and Europe.
- Scattered Spider’s collaboration with ransomware-as-a-service groups highlights the evolving, business-like structure of cybercriminal operations.
Small Business Cyberattacks Rise in 2025: Guardz Mid-Year Findings
Guardz telemetry shows nearly double the weekly cyber incident rate for SMBs in the first half of 2025 compared to 2024. Enterprise-style attacks increasingly target smaller firms.
