ArcMail Partners with Marshal8e6 to Deliver Email Archiving

Marshal8e6 adds ArcMail email archiving to provide a complete solution for security and compliance for the education market.

Arcmail Technology, Inc. a provider of email archiving and management products based in Shreveport, La., announced its latest partnership with Marshal8e6, a Web and email security vendor. Through this partnership, Marshal8e6 will add email archiving to its integrated Secure Web Gateway (SWG) and email security products and create a “one-stop-shop” source for multi-layered security. Education agencies and districts can now protect their networks and their students while meeting federal regulations with one security package.

Despite reduced IT budgets and resources, Marshal8e6 is able to address the increased challenge of protecting students and district networks while ensuring federal and district policy compliance. The company’s Secure Web Gateway and email security products protect students and networks from the emerging security issue of blended threats: attacks that prey upon multiple vulnerabilities within networks. At the same time, Marshal8e6’s solutions allow education institutions to be compliant under two federal regulations: the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), and the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure (FRCP).

Under both federal requirements, educational institutions that receive funding from the U.S. Department of Education must maintain strict controls over who has access to student records and ensure the privacy of student information (FERPA), and must maintain an inventory of various documents and data storage systems to determine whether the documents must be disclosed for possible e-discovery (FRCP).

Marshal8e6’s Secure Web Gateway and email security products allow districts to block, monitor, and report on all email and Web traffic, while monitoring for any data leakage, as required by FERPA, and ArcMail’s products automatically capture, index, and store inbound and outbound emails and attachments for possible e-discovery, as required by FRCP.

“We chose Marshal8e6 because their solutions are focused specifically on the education space,” says Michael Waranowicz, network administrator at Sayreville Public Schools. “Previously, we had to use multiple vendors to take care of our security needs. With Marshal8e6, we see significant cost and support benefits by having all our email and Web security needs taken care of by one vendor.”

In the past few months alone, Marshal8e6 has added 20 large schools districts and the State of Ohio. Marshal8e6 now has nine state-wide contracts and protects over 8 million students in North America.
