Dell Introduces Three New Laptops

Like other notebooks announced in recent weeks, the new 2-in-1 and workstations aim to balance portability and power for work-from-anywhere employees.

Weeks after unveiling a wave of new and enhanced PCs and peripherals for work-from-anywhere users, Dell has introduced two additional workstations and an additional 2-in-1.

The new workstations include the 16-inch Precision 7670, which is available in both a thin chassis measuring 23.3 mm in height and a 25.9 mm performance chassis for users in need of greater horsepower. The skinnier model weighs 5.75 lbs. while the thicker one weighs 5.90 lbs. Both feature 12th Generation Intel processors with vPro technology and up to 16 cores, a selection of optional NVIDIA RTX and GeForce RTX graphics cards, up to 12 TB of storage, and up to 64 GB of memory.

Display options top out with a 4K HDR500 OLED panel offering 500 nits. The 16:10 devices come with an FHD IR camera and dual array microphones with noise suppression technology as well.

The other new workstation, Dell’s Precision 7770, is a 17.3-inch unit with similar specs and components, except that it has a 16:9 display, up to 16 TB of storage, is 26.7 mm tall, and weighs 6.65 lbs. Like the 7670, the 7770 offers Wi-Fi 6E connectivity and Bluetooth 5.2.

Pricing for the new devices will be announced closer to their ship date in the second quarter of the year.

The Latitude 9330, also announced today, is a 13.3-inch “ultra-premium” 2-in-1 similar in design to the slightly larger Latitude 9430 introduced last month. It’s powered by 12th Gen Intel Core processors with vPro and comes with up to 32 GB of LPDDR5 memory and up to 1 TB of storage. Its starting weight is 2.8 lbs.

The unit’s 16:10 display offers a 90% screen to body ratio and always-on blue light reduction technology. Collaboration features include top and bottom firing speakers with AI-enhanced noise cancellation and an FHD webcam with a “camera mute” on/off key.

Like the devices announced last month, the Latitude 9330 comes in updated packaging made of 100% recycled or renewable materials. Pricing for the new product has yet to be announced. It is due to reach market in June.

All three new laptops introduced today come with Dell’s free Optimizer software suite, which includes “Intelligent Privacy” functionality that automatically hides sensitive information if the unit detects someone looking over your shoulder and automatically dims the screen when the user looks away from it, as well as a proximity sensor that wakes the device when a user approaches and automated performance and power efficiency adjustments. A multi-network connectivity feature lets users connect to two wired or wireless networks simultaneously.

Dell also announced a new managed services offering called Lifecycle Hub today. Aimed at larger organizations, it provides outsourced assistance with warehousing, shipping and receiving, imaging, configuration, repairs, returns, exchanges, and end-of-life disposition, among other needs. Buyers can pay for the service through monthly installments or all at once upfront.

Demand for PCs remains surprisingly strong for Dell two years into a pandemic-fueled purchasing spike. Client product orders through the channel climbed 20% in the fourth quarter of Dell’s 2022 fiscal year, the most recent one for which data is available, and client revenue overall rose 26% to a record-setting $17.3 billion.
