NOTHING NEW HERE, unfortunately: 91% of end users know that reusing passwords is risky, but 66% of them do it anyway, according to data from LogMeIn’s LastPass unit.
This, on the other hand, is new: Since last summer, LastPass has been offering identity and access management software specifically for managed service providers. Called LastPass MSP and based on the vendor’s business-oriented LastPass Enterprise product, the system combines password management, single sign-on, and multifactor authentication in one package. Unlike its predecessor, however, LastPass MSP has a multitenant interface, offers monthly billing, and integrates with ConnectWise Manage and Datto’s Autotask PSA.
Benefits of becoming a LastPass MSP partner include access to live and on-demand training, internal use licenses, and assistance from an enablement manager. And while LastPass continues to sell its software direct, it incentivizes salespeople to forward prospects who prefer buying through MSPs to a partner.
“”Our core mantra is choice,”” says Christian Ponce, LogMeIn’s former director of channel strategy. “”We’ll give you the choice as the customer on how you want to engage and the options and the product that you want.””
Onboarding is extremely simple, he continues, and tends to produce long-lasting relationships. “”It’s extremely sticky,”” says Ponce of LastPass MSP. “”Once your customers are on it, they tend to stay on it.””
MSPs can buy the product through both Sherweb and Pax8, and their status as LastPass partners makes them eligible to offer other LogMeIn products like GoToMeeting and GoToMyPC as well. “”They have nothing to do with passwords,”” Ponce notes of those systems, “”but that doesn’t mean your customers may not be interested in them.””
