Unitrends MSP Integrates with Autotask PSA

The tie-in lets users of Unitrends MSP backup and disaster recovery solutions view and manage alerts in their PSA console, automatically create backup-related tickets, and sync client information across their Autotask and Unitrends MSP accounts.

Unitrends MSP has integrated its BDR and ransomware detection platform with Datto Inc.‘s Autotask PSA platform.

The new tie-in allows technicians to view and manage backup-related alerts within the same PSA console they use to run other essential aspects of their business. It also enables automatic creation of backup-related tickets and bi-directional synchronization of client information across Autotask and Unitrends MSP accounts.

Burlington, Mass.-based Unitrends MSP announced the integration as Norwalk, Conn.-based Datto wraps up its annual DattoCon show for U.S. partners in Austin, Texas.

Founded last December, Unitrends MSP is an independent subsidiary of the former Unitrends Inc. dedicated to making enterprise-oriented BDR solutions available to SMB-oriented MSPs.

IT management software vendor Kaseya Ltd., which operates from dual headquarters in New York and Miami, merged with Unitrends Inc. last month.

“Our commitment to the overall MSP market remains steadfast,” said Mike Sanders, CEO of Unitrends MSP, in a press statement. “In light of our recent merger with Kaseya, it was important to the Unitrends MSP team to demonstrate our unwavering dedication to the greater MSP community, and that is what we’ve done by developing this integration with Autotask. As we continue to enhance our product with future integrations, our focus stays true—to deliver the best-in-class business continuity and disaster recovering technology that meets the needs of every MSP.”

Kaseya has been steadily expanding its solution suite in recent months, both through transactions like the Unitrends merger and alliance agreements with companies like documentation vendor IT Glue, of Vancouver, B.C., and cloud-to-cloud backup vendor Spanning Cloud Apps LLC, of Austin, Texas. The company has vowed to let MSPs mix Kaseya products with solutions from competing vendors just the same, and today’s announcements offers evidence in support of that promise.

“While we fully believe that the Kaseya IT Complete platform is the most comprehensive, effective IT infrastructure management solutions stack on the market, we also remain committed to giving our customers choice,” wrote Kaseya CEO Fred Voccola to ChannelPro in emailed comments following the Unitrends merger. “That is why our platform has always been and will continue to remain an open one. We will never force our customers to only use our products. However, once they experience the power of our integrated solutions they will likely not want to use anyone else’s.”

Value-added cloud distributor Pax8, as well as both BDR vendor StorageCraft Technology Corp. and password management vendor Passportal Inc., announced Autotask integrations of their own earlier this week.
