AmTRAN announced its new JVC BlackSapphire Razor-Edge E-LED series of HDTVs, and demonstrated both the SL and SP versions of this series to journalists at a midtown Manhattan hotel earlier this month.
The main difference between the SL and SP models is that the SL series has 3D capability. Both models feature the company’s XinemaSound 3D audio, built-in Wi-Fi and a QWERTY keypad on the back of the remote to help navigate the JVC I.C.E. Smart TV apps. Both have USB media ports and energy-saving features like Auto Power Off and full Energy Star certification.
Another difference between the SL and SP models are the bases on which the flat panels rest. The SP sits on a standard flat base, but the SL rests in a more aesthetically distinctive curved panel, which the company touted at the Manhattan gathering as being more artful.
Company officials also stressed the high quality of the XinemaSound 3D speakers, which the it says is produced by crosstalk canceling technology, resulting in improved channel separation and a more cinematic sound field. Indeed, during the NYC demo the down-firing speakers produced robust, clear and crisp sound quality including at high volume.
The SL Series comes in two models, the SL42B-C and SL47B-C which retail for $799 and $899, respectively. The two SP Series models are the SP50M-C and SP55M-C which SRP for $899 and $999, respectively.
