GridIron Systems Rolls Out TurboCharger GT-1500

The Flash-based appliance is designed to accelerate the performance of entire data center Storage Area Networks (SANs) to solid state speeds.

Data management innovator GridIron Systems has introduced TurboCharger GT-1500, a Flash-based appliance designed to accelerate the performance of entire data center Storage Area Networks (SANs) to solid state speeds without disrupting servers, storage, or software applications. Customers in data-driven industries, such as finance, education, or healthcare, have added TurboCharger into their existing hard disk based storage infrastructures to boost overall database and application performance.

The GridIron TurboCharger is an appliance designed to eliminate traditional storage Input/Output (I/O) bottlenecks by intelligently caching and accelerating application data delivery. TurboCharger continuously profiles the behavior of applications and caches performance-critical data for rapid, low-latency delivery so that applications run at optimum performance levels.

Because it offloads many CPU-intensive read and data processing functions from the SAN, and is equipped with industry-leading bandwidth, TurboCharger enables SMBs to scale out application workloads while delivering a fast and consistent end-user experience across multiple applications simultaneously. IT organizations can extract greater value from their investments in back end storage due to the performance improvements TurboCharger delivers without any need to change existing servers, storage, applications, or database resources.

TurboCharger is part of GridIron’s OneAppliance suite of solutions designed especially for accelerating the performance of I/O-intensive applications in the data center. The new GT-1500 model combines the latest Intel processors, motherboard, and Flash capabilities with GridIron’s patent-pending Set-Ranking technology (with silicon and software analytics) to speed up existing storage performance by up to 100 times. According to GridIron, SMBs can run applications up to 10 times faster “without the risk and expense of migrating data from traditional storage systems to Flash,” as all Input/Output (I/O) write operations pass through to existing storage devices.

The TurboCharger GT-1500 is a power- and space-efficient 2U rack appliance with 12 TB of Flash capacity that can consistently accelerate up to 128 TB of primary storage at performance levels of 550,000 I/O Operations per second (IOPS) and 3.2 GB per second bandwidth, enabling highly concurrent user and application access. Users can scale performance simply by adding more TurboChargers to the environment.

The TurboCharger GT-1500 is available immediately from GridIron Systems.
