Video conference solutions provider Vu TelePresence Inc. has new multi-vendor video conferencing capabilities through the cloud-based Vidtel conferencing service. With Vidtel’s MeetMe multi-party video conferencing services, SMBs can use Vu to conference with up to 12 participants across H.323, SIP, Skype, and Google GTalk endpoints.
“Vidtel is a good strategic fit for Vu,” says Vu TelePresence co-founder Devita Saraf. “The Vidtel service complements our recent SIP interoperability development and enables our customers to interact with a broad array of technologies, both standards-based and non-standard, without investing in server infrastructure.”
Vidtel’s cloud service bridges together a variety of devices, from room systems, video phones, PCs/Macs, tablets, and smartphones from different vendors. The service is tailored to SMBs as a monthly subscription fee or on a per-minute basis.
Prior to the Vidtel offering, Vu users were only able to connect to other Vu users for multi-party video conferences. Now, Vu customers can use the Vidtel MeetMe service to talk to other standard (e.g., Polycom, Cisco, LifeSize) and non-standard (Skype, GoogleTalk) users.
