Intel and Symantec Team to Sell Servers with Backup Exec 2010

The software, bundled with Intel’s server products, is available to partner members of Intel’s Enabled Solutions Acceleration Alliance.

Intel will be making Symantec Backup Exec 2010 available to its system builder partners through its network of authorized distributors. The addition of Symantec Backup Exec expands Intel’s software offering for channel partners that are part of the chipmaker’s Enabled Solutions Acceleration Alliance (ESAA).

Intel and Symantec will sell the software bundled with Intel server products.

In Intel’s “Server Room Blog,” author Ned Thanhouse quotes Symantec’s Mike Garcia, director of product management, as saying that Symantec Backup Exec 2010 integrates virtual machine protection, deduplication and archiving technology.

“With Backup Exec, channel partners have a reliable information management solution that they can confidently recommend to their customers,” Thanhouse quotes Garcia as saying.
