Avocent's Virtual Advanced Console Server 6000 Hits the Channel

Emerson Network Power is offering SMBs a new tool for security and management of remote data centers and virtual assets. The Avocent Virtual Advanced Console Server 6000 (ACS v6000) is a centralized management solution that enables authorized users to access resources, keeping virtual assets available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Organizations interested in hybrid console management can also now run Avocent ACS v6000 alongside traditional ACS devices in their data centers. This hybrid approach is designed to help maximize IT asset productivity, while consolidating distributed devices within the environment and reducing operational costs.

The new virtual appliance puts all of the features of the popular Avocent ACS 6000 into a mobility product. Channel pros can manage virtual machines running Windows EMS, UNIX, Linux, and Solaris. End-users can also manage virtual assets in the same manners as physical assets, such as routers, switches, public branch exchange (PBX) telecommunications equipment (DSU/CSU), and serial power devices.

†”As the industry continues to realize the benefits of virtualization,” explains Gene Mulligan, Avocent’s senior vice president of global operations, “customers are looking for a way to remotely manage both their physical and virtual assets. The Avocent ACS v6000 takes console management to a new level by combining the access and control for both physical and virtual servers into one system.”
